Private households & families

Your home, in the right hands.

The estate manager who sees the problem before you do. The chef the children ask for by name. The nanny you stop checking the monitor for. This is what we find.

Hiring for a home is not hiring for a job.

A résumé can tell you where someone worked. It cannot tell you how they move through a house — whether they lower the temperature of a room or raise it, whether discretion is a habit or a performance, whether they will still be with you in five years.

That judgment is our work. For twenty-four years we have interviewed, referenced, and quietly declined thousands of candidates so that the handful you meet are worth your time. We advise on the role itself — what to pay, how to structure it, what great looks like — before the search even begins. It is why we are so often the second call, after a hire made elsewhere has gone wrong. We would rather be the first.

And when we place someone, we stand behind it: every placement carries a six-month replacement guarantee, the longest published in the field.

“I am moving to Connecticut from Manhattan and had no idea how to find a housekeeper. I called Steven Laitmon from The Calendar Group who assured me that he would find me the perfect person. And two weeks later, the first person I interviewed was exactly what I was looking for in a housekeeper. Steven was very professional as well as very personable AND most importantly he listened and delivered! I would highly recommend The Calendar Group!!”

Questions

Asked, answered.

How does a search begin?
With a conversation — usually thirty minutes, always confidential. We ask about the household, the role, and what has and hasn't worked before. From there we scope the search, agree on compensation strategy, and begin presenting candidates, typically within days.
How are candidates vetted before we meet them?
Every candidate is interviewed by a senior advisor, referenced against prior principals or supervisors, and screened for the specifics of your household — schedule, formality, children, pets, travel. Background checks are completed before any offer. You meet a shortlist, not a stack of résumés.
What does a search cost?
Our fee is a percentage of the placed candidate's first-year compensation, quoted transparently before the search begins; senior and specialized searches may be structured as retained engagements. Every placement carries our six-month replacement guarantee.
How discreet is the process?
Completely. Candidates learn identifying details only when a meeting is agreed. We are happy to work under NDA from the first conversation — many of our searches are run without the family's name ever appearing in writing.
Do you staff seasonal and secondary residences?
Yes. A large share of our work follows families between residences — the Hamptons in summer, Palm Beach in season, Aspen in winter. We staff each property and, just as often, find the traveling roles that hold it all together.
